🗓️ The Beekeeper's Year
A 3D beehive you scrub through a full calendar year to watch colony population, honey stores, swarm risk and Varroa mites rise and fall with the seasons.
A cutaway 3D beehive with a season calendar dial lets you scrub through a full twelve-month cycle and watch colony population, honey stores, swarm risk and Varroa mite load rise and fall together — the same rhythm a real beekeeper manages all year.
🔬 What It Demonstrates
Population swells from a tight winter cluster to a bursting summer hive and back again; honey frames fill during the flow and empty after harvest; Varroa mites climb through summer brood and get knocked down (or don't) in autumn; and an unmanaged spring colony can swarm, visibly losing bees to a cluster on a nearby branch.
🎮 How to Use
Drag the month slider — or tick "Auto-advance" to let the year play on a loop — and watch the hive, frames and calendar dial respond. Toggle swarm prevention and autumn Varroa treatment to compare a well-managed year against a neglected one.
💡 Did You Know?
A colony can hold over 50,000 bees at its summer peak and shrink to under 10,000 for winter — the entire population turns over roughly every six weeks, so the hive you see in July is, bee for bee, almost a different colony from the one in April.
