📊 Turning Hive Notes into Useful Reports
A practical framework for beekeepers and small honey businesses to turn raw inspection and sales records into monthly and seasonal reports that actually inform decisions.
A live 3D KPI chart for a small beekeeping business: twelve monthly bars for honey yield, revenue, cost or colony-loss rate rise or fall against a translucent benchmark, turning raw inspection notes into a report you can actually act on.
🔬 What It Demonstrates
Each solid bar is your apiary's reported monthly KPI; the gold ghost bar behind it is a reference apiary's benchmark for that same month. Bars turn green when you beat the benchmark and red when you fall short — with the comparison direction flipping correctly for cost and loss-rate KPIs, where lower is better.
🎮 How to Use
Pick a KPI, then drag the apiary-size and record-keeping-noise sliders to see the monthly pattern shift. Toggle the benchmark bars, click any bar to inspect that month's exact figures, and press "New season's records" to reseed the data.
💡 Did You Know?
Because fixed overheads (equipment, insurance, memberships) are spread across every hive in the apiary, the cost-per-hive KPI drops as the apiary-size slider increases — a simple, visible case of economies of scale in a beekeeping business.
An interactive 3D bar chart lets you pick a beekeeping KPI (honey yield, revenue, cost, or colony-loss rate) and compare twelve months of your apiary's simulated records against a benchmark reference apiary, with bars colored green or red depending on whether you beat the benchmark.
