🔬 What It Demonstrates

Competitive grasses out-compete most wildflowers wherever fertility is high; only a late-summer hay cut that removes cuttings (and so nutrients) keeps grass in check long enough for flowers to persist and reseed.

Set soil fertility and a cutting regime, toggle yellow rattle, then drag the meadow-age slider (or press Play) to watch the plot converge toward a flower-rich meadow, a mixed sward, or reverted grassland — with bee visits tracking flower cover.

💡 Did You Know?

Yellow rattle is sometimes called the "meadow maker" — by tapping into grass roots for water and nutrients it weakens the grass sward enough that far less competitive wildflower seedlings can get a foothold.
