🔬 What It Demonstrates

Cluster heat conducts outward through the hive wall before a camera ever sees it, so insulation, emissivity settings and whether brood is present all distort the apparent size and temperature of the true cluster underneath.

🎮 How to Use

Switch between visible and thermal view, then adjust outside temperature, colony strength, insulation and camera emissivity. Watch the true cluster sphere and the false-colour reading diverge — and read the warning when a setting is misleading.

💡 Did You Know?

A shiny metal roof has low emissivity, so at the wrong camera setting it mostly reflects the cold sky rather than radiating its own temperature — a classic false-cold misreading beekeepers learn to spot.
