🐝 Precision Beekeeping: What Hive Sensors Can and Cannot Tell You

An interactive 3D beehive cutaway with live temperature, humidity, weight and Varroa sensors — showing where hive data reveals colony health and where it silently misses it.

A cutaway 3D beehive wired with the sensors real apiaries use — brood temperature, humidity, a load-cell scale and a Varroa mite board — next to a "ground truth" colony health value the dashboard cannot always see.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Temperature, humidity and weight sensors track thermoregulation and forager traffic well. But a queen failure has no dedicated cheap sensor — toggle it on and watch the dashboard status stay green while the bee cluster visibly thins.

🎮 How to Use

Adjust outside temperature, time of day and Varroa mite drop count to see live sensor readings and the bee cluster respond. Flip "Hidden queen failure" to see where the sensor dashboard's blind spot really is.

💡 Did You Know?

Studies on commercial hive scales show combined weight and temperature trends can flag colony stress days before a manual inspection — but only when read together, not as a single snapshot number.
