🌇 The Multifunctional Roof

An interactive 3D rooftop lab where solar panels, a green roof and rainwater harvesting share the same square metre — tune the split and watch power, water and cooling respond.

A single rooftop tiled into solar panels, a green roof and bare gravel — adjust the split between them and watch power output, harvested rainwater and roof cooling respond in real time.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Solar coverage drives kW output that tracks sun elevation; green roof coverage cuts stormwater runoff (a low retention coefficient vs. hard surfaces) and cools the roof deck through evapotranspiration; the cistern fills live from whatever the roof doesn't absorb.

🎮 How to Use

Drag the solar and green roof sliders to re-tile the roof, move the rain slider to send water down the gutter into the cistern, and sweep sun elevation to see panel output and lighting shift from dawn to noon.

💡 Did You Know?

Because a cooler roof deck keeps PV modules from losing efficiency to heat, "biosolar" roofs that combine panels with vegetation can slightly outperform solar-only roofs of the same panel area.
