🔬 What It Demonstrates

The cluster actively defends a warm core near 34°C by contracting its outer mantle in the cold; how well it succeeds — and whether condensation or isolation starvation threatens it — depends entirely on which fast emergency protections are in place.

Drop the outside temperature to simulate a sudden freeze, then toggle the wrap, entrance reducer, moisture quilt and candy board on and off to see their combined effect on the live stats and the 3D hive.

A candy board placed in direct contact with a winter cluster is often the single fastest emergency intervention — unlike syrup, which can freeze solid, solid sugar stays available exactly where the bees can already reach it.
