🔬 What It Demonstrates
Varroa mites can only reproduce inside sealed brood cells. Removing capped brood from the equation halts reproduction entirely, and pairing the break with a treatment turns a population plateau into a rapid crash.

Start a brood break, set its duration and the colony's starting mite pressure, and toggle a mid-break treatment. Watch the comb's capped cells empty, the population graph respond, and phoretic mites appear on wandering bees.
💡 Did You Know?
Because a full worker brood cycle is about 21 days, broodless windows of 21–24 days expose essentially every mite in the colony to the vulnerable phoretic phase at least once.
