𧬠3D Game of Life β Volumetric Cellular Automaton
The same birth/survival neighbor-counting rule as the 2D Game of Life original, now run on a real voxel grid with 26-neighbor (3D Moore) connectivity instead of the flat 8-neighbor grid. Orbit the cube, switch between three named rule sets live, and watch generations bloom and collapse in volumetric space.
This is the 3D companion to the Gameoflife: Game of Life 2D original. It keeps the identical mechanic β a dead cell with the right count of live neighbors is born, a live cell survives only within a chosen neighbor-count range and otherwise dies β but counts neighbors across the full 26-cell 3D Moore neighborhood (the six face, twelve edge and eight corner neighbors of a voxel) instead of the flat 8-cell 2D neighborhood, with the same toroidal (wrap-around) grid boundary as the original. Because the classic 2D rule (Born 3 / Survive 2-3) is far too sparse to sustain life once there are 26 possible neighbors instead of 8, this page offers three named 26-neighbor rule sets β Dense growth, Balanced and Sparse crystal β switchable live without resetting the grid, alongside grid resolution, generation speed and seed density controls and Random/Cube seeding buttons.
