Esports Matchmaking Engine — Glicko Rating Live (2D)
2D companion: the same real Glicko-2 rating engine on a flat rating-vs-uncertainty scatter plot, live-matching simulated esports players of comparable skill.
This 2D companion runs the identical Glicko-2 update math as the 3D version — same rating, rating-deviation (RD) and volatility formulas — but plots each player as a dot on a flat rating-vs-RD scatter instead of an orbiting 3D scene, so the convergence of new players' rating estimates is easier to read at a glance.
A real Glicko-2 rating engine updates simulated players' skill and uncertainty after each simulated match, matchmaking opponents of comparable current rating.

What is Glicko-2?
A rating system (successor to Elo and Glicko-1) that tracks not just a skill estimate but also its uncertainty (rating deviation) and volatility, so a player's rating can converge faster or slower depending on how consistent their results are.
Why does RD matter for matchmaking?
A high RD means the system isn't sure yet what a player's true skill is, so the match-quality function here prioritises giving those players games to narrow that uncertainty quickly.
