Tropical Cyclone Lab: wind field, pressure, storm surge and track
Tap the sea or land to drop a weather buoy and read the local wind and pressure. Scene is not to scale: 1 unit is 10 km, markers and surge heights are exaggerated.

Experiment: what raises the surge?
Question: how much of the peak storm surge comes from the pressure drop (inverted barometer, about 1 cm per hPa) and how much from the wind, as the central pressure falls? The storm is held at constant intensity and runs into the coast with the current track, speed and shelf slope.
