If you can hear thunder, lightning can reach you. Go inside a building or a hard-topped car and stay there.
Wait 30 minutes after the last thunder. Never shelter under a tree, and never stand near a tall pole or mast: lightning picks tall things.
In this lab the lightning only ever strikes a lightning rod on a weather mast or a far hill. Nobody is outside.
