A working, if idealized, numerical weather model core rendered as a top-down heatmap with a live wind-vector overlay: a finite-difference grid solves the linearized shallow-water mass and momentum equations every frame, complete with Coriolis rotation, a diffusive stand-in for sub-grid turbulence, and a stabilized, CFL-aware explicit time step. Inject a low-pressure cell and watch conservation of mass push pressure waves outward while the Coriolis term bends the converging wind into rotation — the same geostrophic-adjustment process that spins real storms into cyclones.
