Warm ocean (above threshold) Cool ocean (below threshold) Spiral rainbands / eyewall

Hurricane Formation Simulator (2D)

This top-down 2D simulator reimplements the same hurricane-formation mechanic as the 3D version using a flat canvas view: warm ocean water evaporates and rises while the Coriolis force curls that rising air into spiral rainbands, a dense eyewall, and a calm central eye once conditions cross the real tropical-cyclogenesis thresholds — sea-surface temperature above about 26.5°C and meaningful rotation away from the equator. Raise the sea-surface temperature and dial in mid-latitude Coriolis strength to watch a disorganized cluster of convection spin up into a full tropical cyclone, tracked live through central pressure, organization percentage, and eye clarity.
