Unnatural Base Pair Genetic Firewall — 2D Model

Synthetic biology's most literal expansion of the genetic code is the unnatural base pair — a third letter, X:Y, inserted into an organism's DNA alongside the natural A·T and G·C pairs. This 2D simulator renders that DNA as a flat, animated double-helix ladder with the engineered site glowing, plus a 144-cell population grid, and drives both from one governing rule: without an external feed of the unnatural nucleotide and a transporter to import it, the pair cannot be copied and is lost within a handful of generations. Turning the feed and transporter sliders down and pressing "Cut Feed" reproduces synthetic biology's real inherent biocontainment strategy — a genetic firewall that needs no kill switch, because the expanded code simply cannot survive outside a supplied lab strain.
