A slapshot transfers stick momentum into the puck; on ice the puck then decelerates under a very small friction coefficient and bounces elastically off the boards and goalposts, conserving most of its momentum on each collision.

- Shot power — initial puck speed launched from the stick.
- Shot angle — horizontal angle of the shot relative to straight-on at the goal.
- Ice friction — coefficient of kinetic friction between puck and ice; higher values slow the puck faster.
- Slapshot — fires the puck from centre ice using the current power/angle settings.
Puck mass is fixed at 0.17 kg (regulation), so momentum tracks speed directly. Watch it decelerate and bank off the boards before reaching the goal.
