According to ESA data, there are over 34,000 objects larger than 10 cm orbiting Earth, over 900,000 objects ranging from 1 to 10 cm, and millions of smaller fragments. Each collision can create thousands of new fragments, leading to a cascade effect (Kessler syndrome). Space Debris Observatory is created as a comprehensive platform for monitoring, analyzing, and managing space debris.
Platform provides access to over 130 million objects, fragments, and microsmears in the catalog (LEO, MEO, GEO, cislunar) with real-time updates, allowing agencies, satellite operators, researchers, military, insurance companies, and STEM communities to track and analyze space debris. Through Orbit Intelligence for orbit tracking, conjunction analysis, and collision probability, Mission Lab for mission planning of debris collection and collision avoidance, Policy Desk for coordinating international standards and regulations, and STEM Outreach for educational programs and citizen science, the system ensures orbital prediction accuracy down to 0.1° and supports over 620 schools, universities, and citizen labs.
Space Debris Observatory not only tracks debris — it activates actions and education. Through 24/7 analytics, alerts, visualizations, API, training, simulations, partner missions, and storytelling, integration with ESA Space Debris Office data, NASA Orbital Debris Program Office, US Space Force, commercial trackers (LeoLabs, ExoAnalytic, Northstar), and citizen science sensors, as well as support for international standards (ISO 24113, IADC, UN COPUOS), the platform helps organizations and communities build a stable and safe space for future generations.
