AGN Unified Model: Torus Obscuration & Jet Beaming

Seyfert 1s, Seyfert 2s, quasars, radio galaxies and blazars are the same kind of object — a supermassive black hole feeding on an accretion disk, wrapped by a dusty torus and, in radio-loud sources, firing a pair of relativistic jets — seen from different angles. This simulator renders that full geometry in 3D and lets your own orbit angle around the model stand in for the astronomer's viewing angle θ: cross the torus's half-opening angle and the broad-line region vanishes behind the dust, flipping the live classification from Type 1 to Type 2. A separate jet Lorentz-factor control shows relativistic Doppler beaming in action — point a fast jet close to your line of sight and the computed Doppler factor and flux boost spike by orders of magnitude, exactly the mechanism that turns an ordinary radio galaxy into a blazar.
