How it works

This is an observer's-eye view: the dome maps the visible half of the sky, zenith at the centre and the horizon at the rim (an azimuthal equidistant projection — real planispheres use the same trick). The Orionid radiant sits at a fixed right ascension/declination near Orion; as the night clock advances, the whole dome rotates under that fixed point, exactly as the real sky wheels overhead:

Meteor streaks are drawn as straight rays fired away from the radiant's screen position — the real perspective signature of a debris field travelling on parallel paths — and each ray's brightness follows the same ½·m·ρ(h)·v² ablation-energy model as the 3D version, using a simplified single-layer atmosphere instead of Earth's full geometry.
