How it works

The mesh is the full scrubbing-capacity surface R(power, weight) — not just one curve through it. Power and weight are the ground-plane axes; height is achievable CO₂ removal rate. The glowing marker sits exactly on the surface at your current budget and slides across it in real time as you move the sliders — climbing the power axis flank, or the weight axis flank, or diagonally when you raise both.

R(power, weight) = k · power^0.55 · weight^0.45   → surface height

marker height = R(power, weight)   → sits on the surface, not the plane

Where the marker pokes above the translucent target plane — the target is met; the ring where surface and plane cross is the exact Pareto frontier, the same curve the 2D companion sim draws flat.
Where it sits below the plane — under target; the CO₂ removal rate can't keep up with what the crew produces.
Diminishing returns — the surface flattens as either axis grows, because doubling power or weight alone never doubles throughput; the two must be raised together to keep climbing steeply.
