How it works

tank(t) = reserve − net_daily·t
transit_frac(t) = t / duration   (Hohmann-style coast, eased at both ends)

Spacecraft path — an elliptical coast from Earth's orbit out to Mars' orbit, the same low-energy transfer geometry real Mars missions fly; the ship's position along it is driven purely by elapsed mission time, not fuel.
Tank level — a literal 3D gauge of the reserve margin: it starts full and drains at the constant unrecycled makeup rate implied by your recycling efficiency and crew size, independent of the spacecraft's position.
