Cool water (inlet) Warm water (heat picked up)

Spacesuit Liquid Cooling Garment Simulator (2D)

This 2D schematic simulator models the same real thermal balance as the 3D Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG) engine: metabolic heat generated by the astronaut's workload is picked up by chilled water flowing through a network of tubes against the skin, via the real convective heat-transfer relation Q = ṁ·cp·ΔT. Core body temperature is integrated live from the surplus or deficit between metabolic heat and cooling heat removed as you change workload, cooling water flow rate and inlet temperature, with a rolling temperature-versus-time chart and a genuine overheating warning when the computed core temperature crosses the physiological heat-stress threshold.
