Magnetar Crust Seismogram: Unrolled Torsional Modes (2D)

This 2D companion to the magnetar crust seismology simulator unrolls the neutron star's crust into a flat latitude-longitude strip map and reads it out on a scrolling seismogram, the same way real X-ray timing data revealed the torsional ring-down after SGR 1806-20's 2004 giant flare. It runs the identical shear-wave physics — v_s = √(μ/ρ), the Legendre mode shape P_ℓ(cos θ), and a Q-damped exponential ring-down — but instead of a rotatable 3D sphere, the standing-wave pattern is drawn as a color-and-arrow field on a flat map and as a live displacement-vs-time trace, exactly the two representations a magnetar asteroseismologist actually works with.
