Kuiper Belt Size-Distribution Cascade (2D)

Beyond Neptune, trillions of icy leftovers from planet formation slowly grind each other to dust. This is the same 22-bin collisional cascade physics as the 3D orbit-view simulator — an impactor breaks its target apart once the impact energy per unit mass exceeds the size-dependent disruption threshold Q*D, and debris redistributes into smaller bodies following the Dohnanyi self-similar fragment spectrum — but rendered natively in 2D as a live log-log size-distribution histogram instead of a flattened orbit scene. Watch bars shrink and grow as an initially shallow distribution steepens toward the classic q≈3.5 equilibrium slope, follow animated particles carrying mass down the cascade or streaming off as lost dust, and tune impact velocity, material strength and time acceleration to see how the disruption threshold and the resulting slope respond.
