How it works

Each glowing sphere is a student in a 42-node classroom social network, built as a Watts–Strogatz small-world graph: mostly short local ties (visible as tight local clumps) plus a few long-range shortcut edges — the same clustered-but-short-path topology real classroom friendship networks show. Gray = Susceptible, cyan = Believer, amber = Skeptic (heard it, no longer spreads it).

Every step, an edge briefly flashes when a transmission attempt succeeds along it, so you can watch the rumor jump physically from node to node across the graph rather than just reading an aggregate curve. Because the network is highly clustered, a node's neighbors tend to also be each other's neighbors — once two or three friends in a tight cluster believe, the rest of that cluster gets reinforced from multiple directions almost simultaneously, which is why belief tends to erupt through local pockets rather than spreading evenly outward.
