How it works

Every robot cycles: fetch a shelf → carry it to a picking station → repeat. In Uncoordinated mode each robot plans only its own shortest path and reacts to traffic by simply stopping if the next aisle cell is occupied — with no shared plan, robots piling toward the same intersections routinely wait on each other in a circle (A blocks B, B blocks C, C blocks A) and the whole chain freezes: a gridlock. In Coordinated ATC mode a central scheduler reserves each robot a conflict-free time-slot through every cell of its route in advance, like air-traffic control clearing runway slots — robots depart a beat early or late so paths never actually collide, and the fleet keeps flowing.
