3D Concrete Printer: Layer-Adhesion Timing Window

A robotic gantry extrudes a wall one concrete layer at a time. Each layer needs a minimum cure before the next layer's weight lands on it, and it needs to still be within its open time to bond chemically once that layer arrives. Set the deposition interval too short and the layers beneath the print head bulge and can collapse under the accumulating load; set it too long and the printer leaves cold joints — visibly distinct hardened seams with weak adhesion. Only intervals inside the bonding window produce a wall with high integrity from top to bottom.
