3-Qubit Bit-Flip Code — Quantum Error Correction

Quantum information is fragile: a single stray bit-flip destroys a logical qubit stored on bare hardware. The 3-qubit bit-flip code is the simplest quantum error-correcting code that fixes this, spreading one logical qubit across three physical qubits so that a single physical error can be detected and reversed without ever measuring — and collapsing — the encoded information. This simulation renders three physical qubits in 3D, applies an independent bit-flip channel to each one every round, extracts the two stabilizer syndromes non-destructively, and applies the standard majority-vote correction live. A running history strip and empirical-vs-theoretical error-rate readout show exactly when the code succeeds and when it is overwhelmed — the same trade-off that governs surface codes and other fault-tolerant architectures in real quantum engineering.
