Quantum Dot Vertical-Cavity Emission

This simulator places a quantum dot inside a vertical Fabry–Pérot microcavity bounded by two distributed Bragg reflector mirror stacks — the same architecture behind VCSELs and micropillar single-photon sources. Drag the dot along the cavity's standing wave, detune its emission line from the cavity resonance, and add or remove DBR mirror pairs to watch the Purcell effect live: the spontaneous emission rate, the fraction of photons captured into the cavity mode, and the far-field beam divergence all respond to real Purcell-effect and DBR-reflectivity relations, rendered as glowing photon streaks launching straight up through the top mirror.
