The real physics

Each edge in this mesh is a BB84 quantum-key-distribution channel. Photon loss in fiber follows the standard telecom attenuation law: transmittance T = 10^(−α·L/10), with α ≈ 0.2 dB/km and L the link length in km — longer links between supply-chain nodes leak far fewer surviving photons.

The raw sifted key rate is R_raw = f_pulse · η_det · T · 0.5, where η_det ≈ 0.2 is single-photon detector efficiency and the 0.5 factor is BB84's basis-reconciliation sifting loss. An eavesdropper using intercept-resend cannot avoid disturbing the quantum state, so Alice and Bob's sampled bits show a jump in QBER (quantum bit error rate) toward its ~25% signature versus a clean channel's ~2% baseline.

Privacy amplification then removes exactly enough bits to erase any information Eve could have: the secure fraction is 1 − 2·H₂(QBER), where H₂ is the binary Shannon entropy. A channel whose QBER crosses roughly 11% yields zero secure key — the network must route around it or accept the exposure.

Nodes — rebuilds the logistics mesh (factories, ports, hubs, warehouses, retail) and its minimum-spanning-tree-plus-redundancy topology.
Network span — km represented per link; longer spans mean more fiber attenuation and lower raw key rate everywhere.
Eavesdrop probability — chance any given link currently has an intercept-resend attacker on it, driving its QBER toward the ~25% signature.
Pulse rate — photon emission rate at each transmitter; scales the raw (pre-privacy-amplification) key rate directly.
