Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy: Mapping the Local Density of States (2D)

This 2D counterpart to the 3D STM/STS simulator replaces its three fixed sample sites with an editable atomic lattice. Click any atom to plant an acceptor or donor defect at a chosen energy, drag the tip to any point on the surface, and sweep the bias voltage: the dI/dV spectrum drawn live is computed from a genuine spatially-varying local density of states, LDOS(x,y,E), that decays with distance from each defect exactly as a real impurity resonance does. Switch to topography mode and the tip auto-rasters the whole lattice holding the tunneling current constant — the image it builds mixes true geometric height with electronic corrugation from your defects, the same conflation a real constant-current STM image always carries.
