Island + docked electrons
E(N) landscape / population
Ground state
A 2D-native counterpart to the 3D Quantum Dot Charging Energy Explorer, built from the same single-electron-box electrostatics EC = e²/2CΣ and E(N) = EC(N − ng)². Instead of an orbiting 3D scene, the physics is shown as two analytic plots: a continuous energy-landscape parabola with Boltzmann-weighted charge-state markers, and the full ⟨N⟩ versus gate-voltage staircase curve computed across the entire sweep range. A top-down island view still shows electrons docking one at a time, but the quantitative story — how charging energy competes with thermal energy to sharpen or wash out the Coulomb staircase — now lives in the two live plots.
