Real 2D cross-section |ψ(n,l,m)|² of the hydrogen wavefunction, evaluated pixel-by-pixel on the canvas (not a Three.js/WebGL cloud). Red = ψ>0, blue = ψ<0.
About this 2D slice
This is the same analytic hydrogen wavefunction ψnlm as the 3D point-cloud
version, but evaluated directly on a flat plane through the nucleus instead of sampled
into a 3D cloud. Each pixel is coloured by |ψ|² (brightness) and the sign of ψ
(red/blue), so you see an exact cross-section rather than a projection. The radial part
uses associated Laguerre polynomials, the angular part uses real spherical harmonics
(associated Legendre polynomials) — identical maths to the 3D version, just rendered as
a 2D heatmap.
