This 2D simulator shows the two hallmark phenomena of superconductivity together. Pick a material and drag the temperature slider down through its critical temperature Tc: resistance snaps from a finite value to exactly zero, and the drawn magnetic field lines bend and route around the sample instead of passing straight through it — the Meissner effect, a genuine active expulsion of flux rather than a simple color change. A magnet floating above the disk responds to that expulsion in real time, settling into a stable levitation gap once the sample is superconducting and sinking back down the moment it warms past Tc. Compare Pb, Nb, MgB2 and high-Tc YBCO to see how widely the transition temperature varies between real materials.
