Droop Control: Power Sharing Between Grid-Forming Sources

A microgrid with more than one generation source has no central dispatcher telling each unit how much to produce — instead, every source obeys a local frequency-droop curve, and the shared AC frequency itself becomes the silent messenger that balances the books. This simulator models a diesel genset and two grid-forming inverters feeding a common bus: set the total load and each unit's droop percentage, and watch the system frequency settle at the point where every unit's droop-determined output sums to exactly the load. The diesel's slow mechanical governor and the inverters' near-instant control loops are modeled with different response time constants, so a load step visibly shows the inverters catching the swing first while the diesel spins up behind them — and tripping the diesel offline shows what happens when two fast but lower-capacity sources are left to cover the load alone.
