Laser Fusion Ignition: Inertial Confinement

This simulator models an inertial confinement fusion (ICF) shot in the style of the National Ignition Facility: dozens to hundreds of laser beams converge on a millimeter-scale DT-ice capsule from every direction, ablating its surface and driving the shell inward by the rocket effect. Tune the laser energy, beam count, capsule radius and ice-shell thickness, then fire a shot and watch the capsule implode in real time — the engine computes the implosion velocity, convergence ratio, hot-spot temperature and compressed areal density from the same scaling relations used to assess real ICF experiments, and reports whether the shot crosses the ignition threshold or fizzles.
