This 2D plasma ball renders the same physical idea as the site's 3D plasma orb — high-voltage filaments seeking the electrically easiest path from a central electrode to a grounded point on the glass — as a flat, top-down random-walk simulation. Each filament grows step by step from the core toward a target point on the sphere's rim, displacing its path sideways at random the way a real corona discharge hunts for the lowest-resistance ionization channel rather than travelling in a straight line. Move the pointer near the glass edge (or click it) and nearby filaments bend their random walk toward that point, mimicking how a finger placed on a real plasma globe pulls the discharge to it. The Power slider controls flicker speed, brightness and the displayed voltage estimate, the Filaments slider sets how many channels are active at once, and Discharge briefly ionizes the whole sphere for a dramatic flash.
