Geyser Eruption

This simulation models a real geothermal geyser: groundwater seeps into a constricted underground plumbing system where it is superheated by nearby magma or hot rock, well above the surface boiling point due to pressure from the water column above. As pressure builds, deep water flashes into steam, which expands violently and blasts the water column above it out of the vent. Yellowstone's Old Faithful follows this same cycle, erupting roughly every 44-125 minutes, throwing water 32-56 m (106-185 ft) into the air, with vent temperatures near 93-95°C (204°F). Each cycle here compresses that pattern into preplay bubbling, a violent main eruption, and a steaming recharge/cooling phase.
