Parachute Deployment

A skydiver free-falls, deploys a parachute that unfurls into a dome, then descends and sways while landscape scrolls below, looping back to the start. During freefall the diver accelerates until air resistance roughly balances gravity (terminal velocity), then pulling the ripcord suddenly opens a canopy that multiplies the drag area many times over, which is what causes the abrupt jolt from a fast dive to a gentle drift. Once open, the canopy acts like a big pendulum, letting the diver sway gently side to side as it glides down.
