Magnetic Levitation Train
A maglev train rides a magnetic cushion instead of wheels: superconducting or electromagnetic coils in the guideway repel and attract magnets on the train's underside, lifting it a few centimeters clear of the rail and eliminating rolling friction entirely. Linear motors built into the track create a moving magnetic wave that pulls and pushes the train forward, so propulsion and levitation come from the same electromagnetic system rather than an onboard engine. With no wheel-on-rail contact, drag comes almost entirely from air resistance, letting maglev trains reach very high speeds while running remarkably smoothly and quietly. Watch the shimmering cyan field arcs pulsing between the train and the guideway below — they represent the fluctuating magnetic flux holding the train aloft as it races around the loop.
