Scenario

Strings keep equal tension, so length is proportional to 1/frequency; each tuning system sets the interval ratios (cents = 1200 log2 f2/f1). Partials follow the instrument: a stiff string f_n = n f0 sqrt(1 + B n^2), a free metal bar 1 : 2.76 : 5.40 : 8.93, a closed pipe odd harmonics only. The curve is the Plomp-Levelt / Sethares sensory-dissonance model: scales tend to sit at its minima, and changing the timbre moves the minima. Rhythms are Euclidean E(k,n) patterns (Toussaint 2005). Vibration is shown in slow motion. Parameters of non-Western scales are typical approximations, not a single canonical tuning.
