Toy model, not a prediction about real AI. N Kuramoto oscillators (Kuramoto 1975) stand for information-processing units; their coherence r is the order parameter. Coupling is K_eff = K I^f and capability grows as dI/dt = rho r I^alpha (1 - I/Imax): alpha > 1 gives finite-time blow-up (I.J. Good 1965) until the compute ceiling bites. Synchrony needs K_eff above Kc ~ 1.6 sigma + 2D.
