Streamline Low pressure (fast) High pressure (slow) Smoke tracer

2D Wind Tunnel

This top-down companion to the site's 3D wind tunnel traces a real potential-flow field: air approaches from the left at a chosen speed, bends around a selectable obstacle — circle, airfoil, flat plate or car silhouette — and streams of smoke-line tracer particles reveal exactly where it speeds up and slows down. Wherever streamlines bunch together the flow accelerates and, by Bernoulli's equation, pressure drops (colour-coded green); wherever they spread out the flow slows and pressure rises (red). Raising the angle of attack tightens the flow over the top surface and builds circulation, which the live lift and drag coefficient readout translates through the Kutta–Joukowski relation — push the angle far enough and the flow separates into a turbulent wake behind the shape, lift collapses and drag spikes, the same stall behaviour the 3D version renders in full dimensionality.
