Spin axis / rotor
Precession path
Gravity / torque
This 2D simulator draws a spinning gyroscope from a pivoted stand: a flywheel spins fast at one end of a rod whose other end is fixed at a pivot, and gravity's torque on the tilted rod makes its axis sweep a slow circle around the vertical instead of falling — real gyroscopic precession. Drag the spin-rate slider to change how fast the rotor spins, drag the tilt slider to change how far the axis leans from vertical, and watch the live readouts for angular momentum, gravity torque, and precession rate update from the real formula Ω = m·g·L/(I·ω): slow the spin down and the precession visibly speeds up, exactly like a real top winding down.
