Unburned fuel
This 2D top-down companion to the 3D Aerial Wildfire Containment simulation models wildland fire spread as a wind-driven cellular automaton over variable fuel load, using a simplified Rothermel-style spread-rate model. Rather than dumping water directly on the flames, you fly retardant drops that cut fuel flammability along the path you draw, building a containment line ahead of the advancing front — the actual tactic real air tankers use. A line placed too late, in the wrong spot, or with gaps fails to stop the fire; a line placed early and square across the wind-driven front starves it of fuel. Live readouts track burned area, contained area and the size of the active fire front so you can see exactly when — and whether — the line holds.
