Nanowaveguide Mode Simulator

A nanophotonic waveguide confines light along a solid core using the same total-internal-reflection principle as a fiber-optic cable, just shrunk to sub-micron dimensions. This simulator models a symmetric slab (planar) waveguide: a thin high-index core sandwiched between lower-index cladding. Adjust the core width, operating wavelength, and the core/cladding refractive indices to watch a light ray zig-zag down the guide via TIR while the panel numerically solves the slab dispersion relation for the actual transverse mode field — a sinusoidal standing wave inside the core matched to an exponential evanescent tail outside it. The V-number readout tells you, from first principles, whether the geometry you've dialed in supports a single guided mode or several.
