Serving tower Other towers Device Weak SINR

5G Cell Coverage & Handover Simulator

This simulator models a real cluster of 5G cell towers using the log-distance path-loss formula that radio planners actually use: received signal falls off with the n-th power of distance from each tower, with the path-loss exponent tunable from open free space to dense urban clutter. Drag the device anywhere in the field and its received signal strength from every tower is recalculated independently and in real time — no shortcuts, no baked-in coverage maps. The device connects to whichever tower currently delivers the strongest real signal and performs a genuine handover, gated by a hysteresis margin, whenever a neighbouring tower clearly overtakes the serving one. Because every tower shares the same channel, each also contributes real co-channel interference to every other tower's link; the live SINR and Shannon-capacity throughput readout show exactly how that interference — not just distance — caps real-world 5G data rates.
