Each dragonfly is a steering agent: a desired-velocity vector points from its current position to a feeding zone, and a steering force (desired − velocity) × turnRate is integrated into its acceleration every frame — the higher the Maneuverability slider, the larger turnRate and the sharper the correction.
Independently, a gust field built from a few offset sine terms pushes every flier sideways each frame, scaled by the Wind gusts slider — it is added straight into the acceleration, so it is never fully cancelled by steering, only fought against.
Energy drains with elapsed time, flight speed and wind resistance; dropping near zero cuts the flier's top speed (fatigue). Arriving within capture range of a feeding zone counts as an interception, refills energy, and hands the flier a new target — that is what the interception counter tracks.
- Interceptions — total successful feeding-zone arrivals across the whole patrol.
- Avg. energy — mean reserve across all fliers; sustained high wind and large populations push it down.
