This 2D side-view simulator shows a single Mimosa pudica leaf resting on its stem. Click or drag across a leaflet to touch it and trigger the real biology: an electrical signal travels outward through the pulvinus joints, each pair of leaflets folding shut within about a second as the touched cells lose turgor pressure, while the petiole itself gradually droops. Recovery is slow and deliberate — raise the recovery-time slider to see the leaf hold its folded, defensive posture longer before the leaflets reopen and turgor is restored over several minutes, exactly as it happens in the real plant.
