How it works

Each petal is an independent particle with its own fall speed, sway phase and spin, driven by the same fall + ambient-wind + gust model as the companion 3D cherry blossom garden — projected onto one vertical plane. Click the canvas, or the shake button, to shake a random tree and release a burst of petals from its canopy.

The bloom-day slider is the mechanic unique to this garden: it advances a 14-day hanami cycle. Early days show trees still budding with sparse pale clusters; the mid-cycle peak (around day 5-7) shows dense pink canopies shedding petals steadily; late days thin the canopy toward bare branches, exactly mirroring how the fraction of blossom remaining on a real cherry tree collapses within about two weeks of first bloom. A petal that lands on the pond floats and drifts with a slow ripple instead of disappearing like one on the ground, so the pond visibly accumulates a floating petal skin as the cycle advances.
